In 1979, Mal Blodget started a company called Blodget Builders, a remodeling and contracting firm in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. After several years as a contractor, he came to appreciate the many facets of running a business. With little knowledge of business management, he set out to learn as much as he could. Although experience proved invaluable, some business skills need to be learned. Seeing other companies struggle, Mal realized that good business decisions depend on a solid foundation in business management and accounting. Following this path, he earned two masters degrees and became a Certified Public Accountant.
